Welcome to the memorial page for

Robert "Bob" A. Andrew

January 5, 1941 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Robert “Bob” A. Andrew, 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 4th, 2018, at The Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Methuen, son of the late Merle (Dow) and Harold Andrew. He was an ASE certified mechanic most of his life taking over his father’s garage when he was just 18 after his Dad passed away, subsequently owning Andrew’s Service Station & Towing, and then because of his love for travel opening Andrew Travel & Cruise Center in the Methuen Square. He was also elected to serve as the West District Counselor for the City of Methuen and was a deputy sheriff for the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

Bob was an on the go person, loved people and his community whether it was his coffee shop talk or his involvement in many clubs and organizations. He was on the board of directors at Methuen Co-op Bank, a member of the John Hancock Lodge, Methuen Board of Trade, Salem/Methuen Rotary Club, Scottish Rights Foundation, Shriners, and the Royal Order of Jesters to name a few. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Methuen. Some of his favorites from these organizations were driving the bus every Christmas to pick up the homeless and less fortunate to drive them to a hearty Christmas dinner put on by the Masons at the John Hancock Lodge. He also loved helping and preparing the breakfast and lunches at the Special Olympics basketball tournament held at Salem High School.

Bob was a graduate of Tenney High School in Methuen where he played varsity football which led him to be an avid Patriots fan, being a season ticket holder for many years before they became the dynasty that they are now. He also enjoyed playing golf and bocce with his friends. While Bob always had a love for others he was devoted to his family, working alongside his son (& daughter for a bit) in the towing business and sharing their love for NASCAR and Indy racing traveling to many races together. They also shared a love for camping together along with his his granddaughter Elizabeth. He was the President of the Methuen High School Band Parent organization supporting his daughter and he will always be remembered for his help in getting the “Band Hat Golf Cart” and being a fun guy to have around.

Bob had a special relationship with his grandchild Casey, they spent so much quality time together including weekly sleepovers, karate, and camping. They could be seen/heard driving the streets of Methuen with the top down in his corvette singing the Kars-4-kids jingle at the top of their lungs!

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Prescott House Nursing Home for the amazing care he received for almost 3 years from the early stages after his car accident until his passing.

Bob was a loving, devoted father and papa and will be deeply missed by his wife Margaret E. (Epp) Andrew, son Douglas Andrew, of Fremont, NH, daughter Kimberley Andrew, of Methuen, MA, and grandchildren Casey Andrew of Methuen, MA & Elizabeth Andrew of Ohio. In addition he is also survived by his brother Steven Andrew, wife Patricia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Fleming.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Robert A. Andrew Memorial Fund set up at Methuen Co-Op Bank, 243 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 which will be used to donate to Methuen organizations, to allow him to give back to the community which he loved.
