Robert Gearin Obituary

Bob passed away peacefully on Thursay, July 18, 2019 - a few weeks shy of his 83rd birthday. Over his lifetime, he beat cancer many times and it finally got the best of him.

Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Josephine (Cordts) Gearin, Bob was born and raised in Methuen. He fondly recalled his childhood filled with many adventures. His stories always made us laugh and wonder if they were true.  He had a wicked sense of humor and everyone he met thought he was the life of the party. A friend of Bill W. for the last 32 years, Bob always had a kind smile and a joke (sometimes clean and sometimes dirty) for anyone that would listen.

He was proud of his military service, having served his country stationed in Germany. After the service, he worked as a shoe salesman before becoming employed by Western Electric, from where he retired in the early 90's. After retirement, Bob & Jo became residents of the Saddle Oak Club in Ocala, FL, where he was able to tell his stories and jokes to a whole new set of friends.

Bob is survived by his children, Maura Gearin-Harper and her husband Neal, Edward Gearin and his wife Denise, Trevor Gearin and his wife Tracy; grandchildren, Nicholas and Noah Gearin, "Grandchildren of his heart" Brandon and Tai Atchison, Jo-Ann and Ryan Reynolds, Nathan Harper, and Felicia and Jace Camille; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Liam, Gavin and Tatum. Bob is also survived by his brother, Leon Gearin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and James Gearin, and sisters, Barbara Loeschen, Shirley Desharnais and Donna Hebert.

His children would like to thank the compassionate staff at Nevins Rehab and High Pointe Hospice House for their wonderful care. We would also like to thank the many people who followed his journey and wished him well on Facebook. After his wife's death in December 2018, The Old Buck enjoyed reading the comments and well wishes from all over the world.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center, 10 Ingalls Ct, Methuen, MA 01844.
