Richard Mongeau Obituary

Richard Mongeau passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 after a courageous 3-year battle with colon cancer. He was born in Ware, MA on November 5, 1948 and was the son of the late Raymond Mongeau and the late Sophie (Kmon) Mongeau.
Richard graduated from Ware High School in 1966. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1970. Richard went on to teach in the Stoneham public schools for 39 years. The majority of his time was spent teaching high school physics and chemistry. He adored the children he taught. His own intense curiosity and love of learning new things transpired into his passion of teaching others. In his retirement he especially adored hearing from his former students and the successes they went on to experience. Richard’s other passion was cooking and listening to music as he cooked. It always put a big smile on his face when he saw others enjoying the meals he cooked.
Richard is remembered with love by his wife, Elizabeth Mongeau, his children, Camille (Mongeau) Jaber and her husband Michael Jaber, Chad Mongeau and his wife Misti Mongeau, and Greg Mongeau and his wife Meghan Mongeau. He was a loving and caring Pepe, and an influential teacher to his grandchildren, Peyton, Jackson, Brynnley, Bryce, Connor, and Isabella.
A special thank you to Dr. Keith Stuart and the wonderful nurses at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Through this difficult journey in his life, he was always in admiration of the care he received.  Also, a very warm thank you to loving staff at the High Point House in Haverhill for giving Richard such comfort in the final journey of his life.
Richard wishes to spend eternity among the seas so his ashes will be spread in the ocean. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Richard’s name to The Richard Mongeau Memorial Science Scholarship and mailed to 15 Keystone Way, Andover, MA.
