Raymond Aberizk Obituary

Raymond G. Aberizk 83 of Methuen passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019  surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born in Lawrence on October 27, 1935, Ray was the fifth child of Celia (Haddad) Aberizk and Jaberan Aberizk.

Raymond grew up in Lawrence, attended Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Lawrence High School. He enlisted in the military serving in the United States Air Force in 1953. Raymond worked for Off Shore Navigation building and installing radar stations all along the African coast where he met Dr. Albert Schweitzer.  Ray also traveled to Lebanon and Greece.  After working at Off Shore, he worked for Raytheon as part of an integration team on the Lunar Excursion Module LEM.

 Raymond also worked as a supervisor for DA Beshara Construction Corporation building many homes, commercial businesses and group homes. He remodeled the Kmart stores throughout the United States.

Ray ran the Sugar and Spice Candy shop on Weirs boardwalk for several years. He enjoyed being with family and visiting Salisbury Beach where he started Uncles, a restaurant that served lamb on the stick, chicken kabobs and fried dough. He was a good cook and worked at several area restaurants including Bishops Restaurant of Lawrence.

 Ray’s family members include his sister Lorice Brown of Salem, New Hampshire and his brother David Aberizk of San Diego, California. He was predeceased by his sister Julia Abdulla, brothers William, Emil and Philip Aberizk. Raymond also leaves many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday July 20, 2019 from 11:00 am to 11:30 am at St. George Orthodox Church, 8 Lowell Street, Lawrence, MA.  A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 am on Saturday at the church.  Burial with military honors will follow in United Lebanese Cemetery, Andover.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Lebanese Charitable Society, 50 Corbett Road, Lawrence, MA 01843.  Arrangements are by the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.  To leave an online condolence, please visit Ray’s tribute page at www.dewhirstbolesfuneral.com.
