Rafael A. Jacome

Rafael A. Jacome, 82 of Methuen, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

The son of the late Santos and Carmen Jacome, Rafael was born in Ecuador on December 6, 1936. He graduated from Machinery Technical School in Ecuador, and worked for Sociedad Agrícola San Carlos for 25 years. In 1979, he moved to the U.S. and worked at H&S Machine Co. Inc. in Lawrence, MA. His hobbies included playing Pac-Man, music, singing, dancing, and taking his grandkids to the Spanish store.

Rafael is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ana H. Jacome, his children, Cecilia Gaibort and her husband Luis, Rafael H. Jacome and his wife Jenny, Gladys Ryan and her husband Shawn, Jeanette Lucas, and Carlos Jacome and his wife Rae-Dawn, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his siblings, Maria Garcés, Enrique Jacome, Marcelina Jacome, and Jorge Jacome. He was predeceased by his 11 month old son, Rafael A. Jacome, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rafael’s name to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cardiology Department, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 10:00am in St. Mary the Assumption Parish, 300 Haverhill St, Lawrence, MA.
