Paul C. Paplaskas, 92, of Bristol, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018, in Bristol, NH.
The son of the late Benedict and Veronica (Gulmin) Paplaskas, Paul was born in Methuen, Mass. on October 15, 1925. He attended Methuen schools and was a graduate of Searles High School in Methuen. Paul enlisted into the United States Navy and served in World War II, the Pacific Campaign, and during the Vietnam War. In the Navy, he furthered his education by attending Meteorology School, and was a U. S. Naval Meteorologist for over 30 years, seeing service throughout the world. He received many decorations, awards and citations for his Naval Service. After his discharge, he settled in New Hampshire, residing with his son. Paul enjoyed NASCAR, gardening and a good game of cards with his friends.
Paul is survived by his son, Peter Paplaskas and his wife Leslie of Bristol, NH, a grandson, Aaron Paplaskas of Manchester, NH, and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his son, Paul C. Paplaskas, Jr., and his siblings, Alphonse Paplaskas, Raymond Paplaskas, William Paplaskas, Albert Paplaskas, who was killed in action in World War II, Mildred Callahan, and Aldona Kavalauskas.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a graveside service with military honors on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 1:30 PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway (Rte. 3), Boscawen, NH 03303. Please meet at the cemetery at 1:00 PM. A gathering will take place at the family home immediately following cemetery services.
