Maureen White Obituary

Maureen P. White, 79, passed away peacefully in her Methuen home on January 3rd, 2019.  The daughter of the late Chester R. White and Marie A. (McHugh) White, Maureen was born on March 7, 1939 in Malden, MA and grew up in Medford where her favorite past time was horseback riding.  She graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1957, and from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing in 1960.  And thus, began her life-long career as an RN in nursing.

Her 1961 marriage blessed her with 2 sons, David Csokmay and the late John Csokmay, Jr. It also brought her to Parma, Ohio for several years where she has always cherished her memories of the friends she made while working at Parma Hospital.  After her return to Massachusetts, she worked at Winchester Hospital, New England Memorial and finally retired from Melrose Wakefield Hospital.

As a nurse, she showed an extraordinary dedication to her patients and commitment to her profession.  Her bed-side manner and attentiveness to the sick garnered her much admiration and resulted in many close and long-lasting friendships.  Her career spanned all areas of her profession but the maternity ward was her favorite.

Despite the difficult aspects of her job, Maureen relied on her strong catholic faith to see her through the toughest times.  As a lifelong church attendee, her parishes included St Joseph’s in Medford, St, Charles in Woburn and most recently St Lucy’s parish in Methuen.

Maureen loved to travel.  Some of her favorite places were China, Hawaii, and Ireland.   Her two pilgrimages to Medjugorje made a lasting impact on her life and led to her ongoing support of many charitable organizations.

Maureen is survived by her son, David and his wife Christine Csokmay of Salem, NH, a grandson, Joseph Csokmay of Salem, MA and her 3 beloved cats, Angel, Tobey and Tasha.

Services will be private.  Arrangements are by the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
