Luis Y. Ruiz, 75, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

The son of the late Raul Abreu and the late Trinidad Ruiz, Luis was born in Bani, Dominican Republic on January 23, 1942.  He was educated in the Dominican Republic, and came to the United States 40 years ago, settling in New York, and later coming to Greater Lawrence.  He was employed in manufacturing.

Luis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margarita Brito Deruiz of Methuen; his children Angela Doyley and her husband Jermaine Doyley, Catherine Ruiz-Lewis and her husband David Lewis, and Luis Ruiz, Jr.; and 4 grandchildren, and several other family members.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Dewhirst-Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home
