Welcome to the memorial page for

Leona Dolloff

December 31, 1930 ~ March 27, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Leona (Lee) C. Dolloff, 86, of Methuen, passed away peacefully at Holy Family hospital on Monday March 27, 2017 from a stroke just 15 days after her husband of 63 years, Kenneth.

Lee was born in Western Bay, Newfoundland, (which at that time was part of Britain) to the late Olive and J. Herbert Cooper. They immigrated to Everett, MA when she was 16. She graduated from Everett High School where she met her future husband, Ken. They married after Ken graduated college and moved to the western part of the state where Lee was a very active housewife and mother. After several moves from Northampton and Bridgewater, MA, Bristol, NH and Greenville, RI, they settled in Methuen where they spent the last 46 years.

Lee’s priority was her family and she enjoyed spoiling them (and their pets) with home grown vegetables and baked goods. She was also an accomplished seamstress. But more than anything she loved having her grandchildren at her home in Methuen and at her lake house on Frye Island, ME. She would play with them, whether it be pitching a baseball, sliding down a hill on a trash can cover, or making “potions” in the kitchen.

In her younger years Lee was very involved in First Church Congregational, Methuen where she ran the George Washington’s Day dinner for many years. She was also the founder of Heaven “Lee” jams and preserves which were sold from First Church for many years.

Lee is survived by her daughter, Laurel (Dolloff) Pittera and her husband John of Salem, NH; her son Wesley Dolloff and his wife Denise (Belair) Dolloff of Windham, NH; grandchildren Alex Pittera of Nashua, NH and Brett Pittera of Salem, NH and Candice Dolloff of Derry, NH and Mitchell Dolloff of Windham, NH. Lee was predeceased by her brother, Herbert (Bert) Cooper and his wife May of PEI, Canada.

Services will be held for both Ken and Lee at First Church Congregational, Methuen, MA at 10:00am, Thursday, March 30, 2017. Burial will take place in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Salem Boys and Girls Club, Geremonty Dr., Salem, NH 03079.  To send an online condolence, please visit, www.goundreydewhirstfuneral.com
