Kevin Wallace, age 63, passed away August 14, 2019 at the Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 12 years Linda, son Sean, and brother William. He also leaves behind many members of his extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Born and raised in South Boston, the son of William and Julia Wallace, Kevin joined the United States Air Force in May 1975 as a Ground Radar Systems Technician. He served in multiple locations both foreign and domestic where he was awarded several medals, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. After more than 22 years of service, he retired in September 1997.
After his retirement, Kevin moved to Methuen, MA and continued his career in the civilian sector as the Digital Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) Site Survey Manager for Raytheon in Burlington. He was responsible for overseeing the logistics and administrative functions for deploying the systems to new sites around the world.
Finally, Kevin was a long-time member and supporter of the American Legion where he used his compassion and experience to assist veterans in Methuen and the surrounding areas. As a patriotic American, Kevin continued to serve the country and its veterans long after his retirement from active duty.
Services will be held this Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A memorial gathering will begin at 12:30pm with the service and military honors to follow at 1:30pm in the funeral home chapel.
