Joyce P. Williams, 86 of Methuen passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Penacook Place, Haverhill.  Mrs. Williams was born in Lawrence and was raised in Methuen.  She has been a resident of Methuen all of her life.  Joyce was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School and Lowell Teachers College.  For many years, she was an elementary school teacher at the Corliss School, Methuen.  After retirement from teaching, she went back with The Methuen School System and worked serving lunches. Joyce enjoyed knitting, ceramics and crafts.  Her greatest joy was her many trips to York Beach, Maine and her Christmas shopping trips to New York City with her lifelong friend, Mary (Kelley) Lefebvre.

The widow of Duain Z. Williams, her family members include her sons, Jeffrey D. Williams and his wife, Denise of Dracut, MA and Doug Williams of Methuen.  She also leaves her daughter, Julie Williams Chopas of Hampstead, NH and her grandchildren, Katelyn, Kevin and his wife, Aimee, Buddy, Victoria and Evan and her 2 great grandsons, Ryan and Colin as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday September 17, 2017 from 2pm to 5pm at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Monday September 18 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
