Josephine Gearin Obituary

METHUEN MA — Born in Hoboken NJ, Josephine is the daughter of the late Selma (Johnson) & H. Edward Cordts. A graduate of Punchard High School in Andover, Josephine began work in the field of insurance at Andover Companies in her early 20’s and retiring from DeAngelis Insurance in 2000 where she continued part time until 3 years ago.
Josephine is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Gearin. Their children Maura Gearin-Harper and her husband Neal, Edward Gearin and his wife Denise, Trevor Gearin and his wife Tracy, Grandchildren Nicholas & Noah Gearin, “Grandchildren of her heart” Brandon & Tai Atchison, Jo- Ann Martir, Nathan Harper, and Felicia & Jace Camille, Great Grandchildren Bentley, Liam, Gavin and Tatum. Jo is also survived by her sisters Irene & husband Daniel Dumas, Nancy Woodward, brother-in-law Leon Gearin and many generations of nieces and nephews.
Jo loved to knit, crochet and sew. Her quilts & afghans are cherished by her family and she would gift her colorful crocheted potholders to anyone who commented on them.
Upon her retirement, Bob & Jo became residents of The Saddle Oaks Community in Ocala FL. Jo would often tell her family about the wonderful friends they made and how content she was in all she did. She was a member of many “hooks and needles” groups, loved to read, play bingo, cards and perform volunteer work. A typical day for Jo would be a sewing group in the morning, ladies’ lunch in the afternoon and cards or bingo in the evening. A massive stroke felled her while playing dominoes at the young age of 81.
The family would like to thank High Pointe Hospice House for their compassion and care.
