James "Jimmy" F. Sheehy, age 66, of Lawrence, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with an illness on December 11, 2017.

A lifelong resident of Lawrence, he was the beloved son of Frances (Sullivan) Sheehy and the late John A. Sheehy. Jimmy was a graduate of Merrimack College where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He was employed as a System Analyst for Dynamics Research Corporation in Andover for over 25 years prior to his recent retirement.

Jimmy was intellectually curious throughout his lifetime. He was an avid reader especially in the fields of science and history. He was an excellent athlete and had a passion for fitness. Jimmy was an exceptional racquetball player and was well known at the Cedardale Health and Fitness Club in Haverhill where he competed in numerous racquetball tournaments.

Perhaps most especially what characterized Jimmy's life was his love of and dedication to his family and the compassion and kindness that he extended to friends in times of need.

Jimmy is survived by his mother, Frances (Sullivan) Sheehy of Lawrence; his brother, John "Jack" D. Sheehy of Methuen; his sister-in-law, Esther Sheehy of Londonderry, NH; his nieces, Julie Traynor and her husband, Steve, and Laura Paquin and her husband, Dan all of Manchester, NH; his nephews, Brian Sheehy and his wife, Melanie, and Christopher Sheehy all of Methuen. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas W. Sheehy. Jimmy is also fondly remembered by other members of his family and his many friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 8 to 9 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 118 S. Broadway, Lawrence. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 9 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the spring in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Arrangements are by the Dewhirst-Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
