Gerard Poulin, 85, of Lawrence passed away at his home on Monday, December 10, 2018, after a brief illness.
Gerard was born on March 7, 1933 in Sanford, Maine to his parents, Adelia (Drouin) Poulin and Florian Poulin. After high school, at the age of 20, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 2 years. Following an honorable discharge, he began working for the Commonwealth of MA DPW as a Heavy Machine Operator. He retired in 1998 at the age of 65 and spent the remainder of his retirement years at his home in Lawrence with his wife, Mary. Gerard enjoyed spending time at the beach, taking long walks, and watching old war movies.
Gerard leaves his beloved wife, Mary (81), whom he married 58 years ago on July 2, 1960. He also leaves his son, Stephen, and wife, Andrea, of Littleton, his daughter-in-law, Maria, of Lawrence, and four grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer of Littleton, and Michael and Kiara of Lawrence, as well as a brother, Henry “Pete” Poulin. He is predeceased by two sons, Douglas and Brian, a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Irene.
Friends and family are invited to call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 17 at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at West Parish Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boston Children’s Heart Center at Boston Children’s Hospital, in memory of Gerard Poulin.
