Frank J. Kobos, 92, of Lawrence, died peacefully on July 2, 2017.  Sharing his birth with his twin brother, John, he was the son of Bronislawa (Kochanczyk) Kobos and John Kobos. Frank attended Holy Trinity Grammar School where he was the Marble Champ in1938.  He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1942 and joined the US Army where he served in Italy, France, Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge and Germany. His only memory of the war was of encountering a mother and child hiding in a building while the troops were clearing a village.  He could not shoot them and moved on with his unit.  Frank was honorably discharged from the service in the state of Washington while serving as an MP at the close of WWII. Frank was a regular at the Lawrence YMCA.  He was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins.  He especially enjoyed the “Sport of Kings” at Rockingham Park where he and his twin brother John were daily regulars along with their many friends.  Frank was retired from Watts Regulator. He was predeceased by his parents Bronislawa and John Kobos, his brothers Joseph, Charles, Edward, Mitchell, Stanley and his twin brother John and sisters Irene Hillner and Eugenia Nowicki. He leaves nieces and nephews, Dorothy Argenziano, John Hillner, Fr. Martin Kobos OFM Conv., Dorothy Hillner, Paula Kobos, Joseph Nowicki, Mark Hillner, and Michael Nowicki.  He also leaves 12 grand nieces and nephews as well as a  great grandnephew and two great grandnieces. Frank was a gentle soul, a unique individual and always attended to his duties and responsibilities but he had a passionate, competitive side.  He hailed as the family 45’s champ and took merciless delight in beating anyone who played with him. Frank was generous to those who knew him and to the family that he loved.  He will be missed by all. Since the summer of 2014, Frank was a   resident at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center. The family is grateful for the love and care that was given to him.

At the request of the family, funeral services were private. Contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to Mother Cabrini Parish c/o of Fr. Martin Kobos  OFM Conv. 214 N.
