Evelyn (Howshan) DelMonico, 92 of Lawrence, MA passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 following a brief illness. Evelyn was born on November 15, 1924 to the late Melaki and Naheem (Humsey) Howshan. Evelyn was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Melkite Church, Lawrence.  She worked for Tyer Rubber for many years then on to New Balance. Her family members include her children, Marion (DelMonico) White and her husband, James White of Plaistow, NH, John M. DelMonico and his fiancé, Allyson Hartzell of Lawrence MA; grandchildren, Heather McFadden, Scott White, Richard & Melissa DelMonico, Nicky, Johnny and Gianna DelMonico; great grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew McFadden, Evy White, Aiden DelMonico and his mother, Christina and AJ Lietz. She also leaves her brother, James Howshan of Concord, MA, Sisters in-law, Irene Cucchiara of Peabody, Marion Swidrack of Methuen and Kay DelMonico as well as several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was the mother of the late Richard DelMonico and was predeceased by her 3 sisters, Madoline Rossi, Lily Shay and Jenny Keen and her brother, Alfred Howshan. She was married to the late John P. DelMonico. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Evelyn had a quick wit and a warm smile for everyone who crossed her path. Kindness and generosity were her dominant traits and she was most comfortable entertaining a houseful of loved ones. Two of her favorite things were coffee and scratch tickets and she could often be found with both at her kitchen table or playing 45’s and Bassetta. Her unconditional love and devotion will be sorely missed by all who knew her and were touched by her life.
