Edward Francis Byrne, Jr.

Edward F. Byrne, Jr., age 90, a longtime resident of Methuen, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019. 

He was born in Lawrence, MA on October 21, 1929, to Annie (Garnett) and Edward F. Byrne, Sr.  Devoted husband of 68 years to Phyllis L. Byrne (Ott) and loving father to Edward F. Byrne, III and his wife, Sheila; Proud grandfather to Edward F. Byrne, IV and Erin P. Byrne and her husband, Joseph Cronin.  He is also survived by in-laws Kathleen and Thomas Couillard, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Ed graduated from Sanborn Seminary in 1947 and served 2 years in the U.S. Navy stationed in San Diego.  He worked as a purchasing agent in the electrical contracting field until his retirement. He enjoyed boating, fishing and big band jazz. Ed took great pleasure in working on his house – both inside and out – and was especially proud of his Koi pond.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Dewhirst & Boles followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA.
