Carol J Gilbert died peacefully on April 27, 2017 at Prescott House in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Carol was born in Boston in 1927 and raised in Cambridge. Upon graduating from Emmanuel College, Carol moved to New York City. She worked as an executive assistant at a variety of companies. She retired as the executive assistant to the President of Lorillard Tobacco in 1992. She moved from her beloved, adopted city in 2009 to Methuen, Massachusetts. Carol loved theater, opera, poetry and, in particular, The New York Times. She is survived by several nephews and nieces.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours for Carol on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the chapel at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will follow calling hours at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138.
