Continuing Care Services
We at the Charles F. Dewhirst Family Funeral Homes
continue to provide assistance to the families we serve
after the conclusion of the cemetery services.
Our goal is to help facilitate the surviving family’s
re-introduction into society, following the loss of
a family member.
Below is a description of our Continuing Care Services:
One of our Continuing Care Counselors makes a phone
call to schedule an appointment to meet at the residence
of the next of kin.
At this pre-scheduled meeting, the family receives
the certified copies of death, the completed Register
Book, spiritual bouquet of offerings, the envelope containing
the flower cards and a laminated obituary. If the family
had used a picture board or other personal items, those
are also returned to the family at this time. Approximately
one week later, an Everlasting Memories Photo of the
departed family member is delivered, as well as a list
of area Bereavement Groups.
The family is asked if they were pleased with the service
we provided or whether they felt there was anything
that could be improved upon. If the family has any questions
about Social Security, filing V.A. papers, completing
insurance claim forms or any legal/accounting questions
these answers are supplied in detail for them.
We provide resource materials to our families to assist
them in coping with their loss, as well as providing
them a list of various bereavement groups in the area.
The family is followed for a period of 6 months, during
which time, the counselor seeks assurance that the family
members are doing all right and offer assistance in
any way that the family may need.
