Violet N. Roy, 88, a life resident of Methuen died on Tuesday September 29, 2015 at Palm Manor Nursing Home, Chelmsford.  Mrs. Roy was born in Sherbrooke, Canada and was raised and educated in Methuen.   Violet was very active with the senior community at the Mystic Street Housing and also served on the Methuen Housing Commission.  She worked for many years at the concessions at Rockingham Park.  She was also an avid horse race fan. 

Violet’s family would like to extend a huge thank you to her friends and the staff at Palm Manor Nursing Home for 10 years of exceptional care.

The widow of Ernest E. Roy, Sr., her family members include her daughter, Patti and her husband, William Alexander of Salem, NH. and her sons, Ernest E. Roy, Jr. of Tyngsboro, MA., James J. Roy, Michael J. and his wife, Tatiana Roy of Chelmsford, MA., Thomas K. and his wife, Kathy Roy of San Diego, CA. and William K. and his wife, Sharon Roy of Waterford, ME.  She also leaves her brother, Raymond and his wife, Jeanette Demers of Methuen and her sister, Jeanne and her husband, Norman Longtin also of Methuen. Violet leaves 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Thursday October 8, 2015 from 9 to 11 AM at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.  Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.  Memorial contributions may be made to the activities fund of Palm Manor Nursing Home, 40 Parkhurst Rd., Chelmsford, MA. 01824.
