Phyllis Corcoran, 85, of Methuen, MA, passed away surrounded by her family on June 16, 2015.

Phyllis was born in Lawrence, MA on August 31, 1929 to the late John and Albenia (Sawyer) Whalen. After raising her three children, Phyllis worked at the Woodland Nursing Home in Methuen for sixteen years. In her spare time, she enjoyed long rides, sewing and baking. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, she never missed a game. Most importantly, Phyllis loved being with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Her favorite song was “Let There Be Peace on Earth”; that is all she ever wanted.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald, of Methuen; daughter, Sharon L. Leone of Pembrook Pines, FL; son, Scott F. Corcoran and his wife Jo-Anne (Giuffrida) of Methuen; daughter, Robin Caisse Parker and her husband Steven of Dover, NH; sister-in-law, Beverly Corcoran Fox and her husband John of Georgia; sister-in-law, Helen Corcoran of Methuen, as well as five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Per the request of the family, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Phyllis’ name, to the MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Arrangements are under the care of the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, Methuen.
