Noreen (Hanora) Teresa Cabezas 76, of Methuen MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening on March 1, 2017 at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Methuen. Noreen resided at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the past 10 years.
Born in Cahersiveen County Kerry Ireland to the late Sean Connell and Maryellen Hoare.
She was employed by the Massachusetts Department of Education as an administrative clerk.
Noreen lived her life always caring for others. Never did she pass a person by when she observed them in need. She was always devoted to her children and husband. She loved her grandchildren dearly.
In the last years of her life, Noreen was cared for by many special people. None more special than her husband Luis. As described by John Fiola in his book One Man's Undying Love, in his poem “Devotion” “Dedicated to Luis Cabezas and Al Powell”.

I write an ode of two men I have met,
Who's love for their spouse, they never forget.
Each and every day I can clearly see,
That they are there, just like me.

For you see our spouses are never alone,
Because they are confined, to a nursing home.
Their illness has taken them out of our life,
But we never give up, because they are our wives.

Our hearts yearn to hold them as before,
We love and kiss them even more.
As we wheel them gently around the floor,
We have never thought of it as a chore.

The devotion we share is from our heart,
We love them deeply while we are apart.
Our lives all seem, so empty and gray,
But still we are there each and every day.

At times we three talk of memories we had,
With tears in our eyes, it is sometimes sad.
But one thing can be said, of that I am sure,
Is our love for our spouses will always endure.

I am proud to have met them and call them my friend,
We are dedicated to be there, until the end.
I will know how we feel, when they are gone,
Our hearts will be broke, but our memories will live on.

Noreen is survived by her husband Luis E. Cabezas with 57 years of marriage.
She also leaves her children: Timothy J. Cabezas and Sylvia of Hanover MA, Stephen W. Cabezas and his wife Deborah of Abington MA, Kevin E. Cabezas and his wife Bronnie of Methuen MA, and Robert F. Cabezas and his wife Sharon of Quincy MA. As well as 12 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren and her sisters, Mary Fish of Franklin NH, and Margaret Smith of Lincoln, England.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 10:00 M to 12:00 PM in the chapel at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral will follow the calling hours at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
