Mark W Phetteplace II, 80, died Friday morning August 12, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. Born to Marshall and Edna (Gurka) Phetteplace of Lawrence, he was educated in the Lawrence school system.   At the age of 21 Mark enlisted in the US Army and served his time in Okinawa, Japan.  As an only child, he lived the majority of his adult life in Lawrence where he looked after his parents through their senior years.  He worked at Western Electric in North Andover where he met and married Loleta “Bunny” Cheney of Plaistow, NH.  After 30 plus years at Raytheon Andover, he retired in 1995. Mark was a bit of a pool shark in his youth and a passionate as well as dedicated golfer from the time he served in the Army right up until recent years when prohibited by his health. 

He is survived by his sons, Mark W. Phetteplace III and his wife, Kim of Marblehead, MA ; Eric Phetteplace and his wife, Gail of Scarborough, ME; grandsons Mark W. Phetteplace IV, Arrick, Gunnar, Reagan and Henry.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday August 22, 2016 from 10am to 11am at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
