Joseph L’Italien, 100, passed away peacefully December 14, 2016 at the Nevin’s home in Methuen.  Joseph, formerly of Lawrence, was a long time resident of Park Gardens in Methuen.  He enjoyed playing cards and watching his beloved Yankees. 

He was predeceased by his wife Cecile L’Italien, son Joseph L’Italien and son-in-law Donald Gallant.

He is survived by his daughter Marie Gallant of North Andover, daughter Janet Kolek and her husband Ronald of Dracut and daughter in law Karen L’Italien of Florida.  Also survived by his four grandchildren Tracy Swiniarski and her husband Scott of North Andover, Christopher Gallant and his wife Nicole of Atkinson, Ronald Kolek and fiancé Beth Ballard of Ayer and Michelle L’Italien of Florida.  He was also a proud great grandfather to Emma, Mia, Charlotte & Jackson. 

He was employed until his retirement in 1984 at Western Electric.  He was a proud Charter member of the French Social Club in Lawrence.  He was a master checker player and looked forward to a competitive game.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours for Joseph on Monday, December 19, 2016, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the chapel at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
