Joseph R. Berthold, 89 passed away on Friday January 20, 2017 at Cedar View Health care Center, Methuen.  Mr. Berthold was born in Lawrence and in his younger years, he cared for his parents while working in the Lawrence paper mills.  He also worked at Converse Rubber Company and retired from Wang Labs.  Joe also did some bartending for pleasure.  After retirement, he took a part time job working at Market Basket. Joe was an avid Red Sox fan.  He loved traveling with his family and taking rides along the beaches.  He also enjoyed playing Bingo, the lottery and talking and socializing with friends. He especially loved dogs and took in many over the years and cared for them.  Joe will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 

He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Aline Berthold and his second wife, Jacqueline.  His family members include his son, Michael Berthold and his wife, Rowena of Nevada and his daughter, Sandra Bruneau  and her husband, Phil of Methuen  and his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
