John D. Thomson, 88, of Andover died on Saturday November 28, 2015 at The Wingate at Andover.  Mr. Thomson was born and raised in Andover and was a 1945 graduate of Punchard High School.  He was a member of Christ Church, Andover and served with The US Navy in The Pacific Theatre during WW II.  John worked with The A&P Tea Company for over 17 years then went to work with The US Postal Service in Andover as a letter carrier and retired in 1987.  He was a charter member and charter officer of the former Andover Elks Lodge, #2198 where he served 3 times as Past Exalted Ruler.  John was also a member of The Haverhill Lodge of Elks #165 where he served as past Exalted Ruler and was also Past Royal Deputy Chief of Scottish Clans, Clan Johnstone  OSC  #185 of Andover.

The widower of Kathleen (Hayes) Thomson, his family members include his sons, John “Jay” Thomson, II and Michael and his wife, Joanna Thomson.  He leaves his grandchildren, Laurie and her husband, Mike, Kathy, Jennifer Law, Kristin and her husband, Mike McMahon, John Thomson, III and his wife, Meagan, Matthew Thomson, Jennifer and her husband, Anthony Rodriguez and Stephanie Bernard. John also leaves 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Lynda Croteau and his grandson, Kevin Thomson.
