Jeannette “Jean” Asquith passed away at her home in Methuen, Mass., surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 9, 2015. Jean was born in London, England, on Aug. 6, 1926, to late parents Christopher and Katherine Burke. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford.
Jean was revered as the feisty matriarch by her many relatives. Her famous Sunday dinners and kind spirit made her the hub of family activity. She will be missed dearly but remembered fondly.
Jean is survived by daughters, Debra Asquith and her husband, Stephen LaFay, of Auburn, N.H., Kathleen Barker and her husband, Richard, of Methuen; her sons, Robert and his wife, Helen, of Londonderry, N.H., Donald and his wife, Gisela, of Wiesbaden, Germany; her granddaughters, Kristen Kowal and her husband, Christopher, Kaitlin Kobrenski and her husband, Daniel, Kacey Hartwell and her husband, Nathan, Alexandra Bowen and her husband, Greggory; and her grandsons, Colin Asquith and Seth LaFay.
Jean was also a doting great-grandmother to Ryann and Audrey Kobrenski, Charlotte Hartwell, and Tobias Kowal. She is survived by her sister, Angela Gallagher; brother-in-law, Richard and his wife, Christine; and dear friends, Brendan and Rita Maunsell.
Friends and family are invited to call between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. on Monday, July 13, at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home in Methuen, Mass.
