Jeanne V. Morneau, 87, our mother, our protector, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February 19, 2017, at her home with her son by her side. Born in Lawrence, Mass., in 1929, she was the daughter of Walter and Eva (LaChapelle) Provencal.

Jeanne was a mother to six, grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 14, seamstress, quilter and also loved a good game of chance. She was a member of Parish of the Assumption, the Cocheco Quilters Guild, and the Dover Senior Center.

She was married in 1950 to the love of her life, Arthur Girard. Together, they created a beautiful family. He unexpectedly passed away in 1966.

Jeanne is survived by her children, MaryAnn Steere and her husband, Clark, Dorothy Groulx and her husband, Michael, Paula Bonnin and her husband, Wesley, Patrick Girard and his wife, Janice, Raymond Girard and his husband, Lou Hennessey; her grandchildren, Kristen, Katherine, Patrick, Terri, Steven, Michael, Emily, Jesse, Molly, Matthew, Nicholas and Leah; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother Henry Provencal and sister Therese Pellerin; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son,Walter Girard, her second husband, Albert Morneau, twin brother, Raymond and brother, Roland.

 

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday April 28, 2017 at 10:30 am at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover. To leave an online condolence, please go to www.dewhirstfuneral.com.
