Jean Marie Fortin Battye, 71 passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at her home in Lawrence. Jean was born in Lawrence and was a 1962 graduate of Methuen High School. She had recently returned to the area after residing 13 years in York, Maine. She loved passing time with beloved friends and family. Upon her retirement from the Internal Revenue Service in 2004, she spent most of her time travelling and generally living her life as though each day was her last.  Jean was the daughter of the late Charles and Adele Spinello.  She was predeceased by her husband of 18 years, Thomas Battye. She is survived by her daughter, Tara Fortin and her sister, Charlotte Spinello, as well as her stepson, Thomas Battye Jr., and her stepdaughter and family, Cinde, Joe, JJ, Janessa, and Justin Vandette.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.  A short memorial service will conclude the calling hours at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
