James M. "Jimmy" Croteau, 67, of South Lawrence passed away due to complications of a long time illness on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Caritas Holy Family Medical Center. He was born in Lawrence, son of the late Roland Croteau and Marie Paquette. James worked many years as a truck driver for Yankee Warehouse of Lawrence, MA. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams. James also enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bowling and cards, prior to his illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Frye of Lawrence, son, Eric J. Croteau and his wife Marilee Tlasek of Lawrence, daughters, Deborah J. Croteau of Raymond, NH and Cheryl A. Sanzo and her husband Raymond Jr. of Methuen, step-son Eric and his wife Elizabeth Frye of Methuen, siblings, Pearl Lavin of Hampstead, NH, Joseph Croteau, Brenda Croteau and her longtime companion Glenna Butler of Lawrenceville, GA, Arlene and her husband Donald Charest of Lawrence, and Marilyn and her husband Joseph Jozokos of Methuen, grandchildren, Ylanna, Jayden, Christopher and Steven, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his step-mother Irene Croteau, and siblings Robert Croteau, Barbara Jozokos and Lucille Gagne. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated staff at the Colonial Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center of Lawrence. ARRANGEMENTS Friends are invited to call from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation is to follow. Donations in James' name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
