James E. O’Hearn, 84, a longtime resident of N. Andover passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday May 9, 2016 at his home.

Mr. O’Hearn was born and raised in Lawrence and was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He worked as a truck driver for many years for Hemingway Transport and later owned and operated Western World Apparel of Andover. Jim also worked at Atlantic Plywood of Woburn prior to his retirement. He served with The US Army in The Korean War and was a member of St. Michael’s Parish, N. Andover. Jim enjoyed taking car trips and family parties and “get togethers.” He especially loved being with his best friend, his wife, Eleanor and his children and their families.

Besides his wife of 59 years, Eleanor R. (Powell) O’Hearn of Methuen, he leaves his son, James E. O’Hearn and his Partner, Robert Sheppard of Virginia and his daughters, Linda and her husband, Eric Angelo of Litchfield, NH and Lori and her husband, Ken Giaquinta of N. Andover. Jim also leaves his brother, John and his wife, Pauline O’Hearn of Methuen and his sister, Mary O’Hearn of Methuen as well as 4 grandchildren, Travis and Nicole O’Hearn and Kyle and Ryan Giaquinta and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas O’Hearn and his niece Nancy (O’Hearn) Mahoney.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday May 16, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday May 17 at 10:00 am in St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main St., N. Andover, MA. Entombment will be in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum, Lawrence.
