Henry D. Joncas, age 90 of Methuen passed away Monday October 5, 2015 at the Berkeley Nursing Center, 150 Berkeley St., Lawrence, MA 01841. Born in Lawrence, the son of Henri and Nellie (Dube) Joncas, he attended St. Mary's Boys School and Lawrence High School. Enlisting in the Army at age seventeen and called to duty at age eighteen, he was attached to the 9th Armored Division of the United States Army during WWII in Germany, England, and France from 1943 to 1946. He was employed by Continental Baking Company for 35 years, and after retirement was a custodian for the Methuen Public Schools. He belonged to Local Teamsters 686 and the Lawrence Lodge of Elks 65. Henry was not only a proud war veteran, who served and loved his country, but was also a dedicated, hardworking, loving family man who sacrificed all that he had for his wife and family. He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 45 years Helen (Murray) Joncas and two children by a former marriage, Robert Joncas and his wife Patricia of Bradford, MA, Ellen and her husband Paul Parenteau of Danville, NH, one granddaughter and two grandsons, a brother Leo of Lawrence, MA and a brother Edward of Florida predeceased. He also leaves four step children, Janice Sullivan and her husband Alan Meyer of Fort Bragg, CA, Nancy and her husband Gary Kuchar of Methuen, MA, James Sullivan of Salem, NH, John Sullivan of Methuen, MA, 8 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Friday October 9, 2015 from 2 to 4 PM at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
