Harold A. Petzold, 67, of Methuen died Monday at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Harold was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on September 26, 1950 to the late Arthur and Shirley (Wilson) Petzold.
He was a graduate of Andover High School where he lettered in track and cross country, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam era.
Harold was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and worked for over 30 years at the Lawrence Post Office as a clerk.
An accomplished artist, and book illustrator, Harold was well known for his paintings and locally themed political drawings. His murals can be seen at various locations in the area, most prominently his mural painted at the Lawrence Post Office on Common St. in Lawrence, which so perfectly captures the spirit of the city.
He is survived by his wife Dellarose (Reed) Petzold of Methuen; his brother, Raymond Petzold and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Corsaro) of Durham N.C.; and his niece Maria Petzold.
