Frederick V. Hatton, 96, of Birch Heights, Derry, NH died Monday April 6 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts. A graduate of Lawrence High and McIntosh Business College. He also attended Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, and Hofstra University in Long Island, NY.

He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley. A former member of Christ Presbyterian Church, where he became an Eagle Scout and a member of the Senior Staff at Camp Onway, Boy Scout Camp in Raymond, NH during his summers in high school – being waterfront director for the last two years.

After graduation from business school, he was employed as an accountant for Swift & Co. meat packers in Lawrence Ma and Manchester NH and in the office of the Cold Spring Brewery in Lawrence. He became a US Treasury Revenue officer, assigned to various offices in NH towns. He was a World War II Air Force officer with a dual rating as a “bombardier and navigator”. He was then assigned “In-Flight” Instructor in navigation for the B-29 “Super-Fortress”. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed swimming, boating and water skiing with his family at Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH where he spent summers and later lived as a year round resident.

He was the husband of the late Marion (Kuehn) Hatton who died in 1990. He was also predeceased by his son, Cary V. Hatton. He is survived by daughter Donna Reynolds and husband Frank of Pelham, NH, Nancy Kopf and husband Warren of Londonderry, NH, son Rick (Frederick) Hatton and wife Mary of Atkinson, NH and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At Fred’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
