Edna O. Godin, 86, of Methuen, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, surrounded by her devoted family.

Daughter of the late Luvey Whippie, Edna was born in Lawrence, MA, on June 5, 1929. She worked for several years at ITT Semiconductors in Lawrence, then was predominantly a homemaker. She was a member of Koza’s Women’s Auxiliary Club.

Edna’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Her loved ones are eternally grateful for the time they spent and the memories they made together.

Edna is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Godin Sr. They were married on June 12, 1949 for 59 years until his death in 2008.

Edna leaves her loving family; sister Shirley Murphy of Andover, son Edward Godin Jr. and his wife Linda of Chester, NH, daughter Judith Berryman of Methuen, daughter Noreen Godin of Methuen and her fiancé John Swartz, daughter Kathleen Bruneau and her husband Eric of Methuen with whom she shared a home; grandchildren Edward, Richard, Joseph, Corey, Jaclyn, Brendan, Danielle, Amy, and Megan; several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Edna supported several charities monthly that were personally close to her heart, such as Paralyzed Vets and the DAV. Anyone interested in making a charitable donation in her honor can donate to either of the charities.

Family and friends are invited to call Sunday, July 12, 2015 between 2 pm and 5 pm at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will be held the following day on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:30 am in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence.
