Edmund D. Skea, 95 of Methuen died Saturday February 11, 2017 peacefully after a long full life. Mr. Skea was born in 1921 in Andover, MA the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Souter) Skea. He later moved to Lawrence and Methuen where he raised his family. Ed was a 1939 graduate of Punchard High School in Andover where he played football for 2 years. One of six brothers who served their country during World War II, he was a Staff Sergeant in the 56th Armored Infantry of the 12th Armored Division. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After being wounded in France during the war, he lived with a bullet in his shoulder the rest of his life. Ed retired from Malden Mills as a fork lift operator. He loved watching all the Boston sports and especially loved watching his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren play sports. He bowled up until his late 80’s in two leagues and also played the harmonica and loved to listen to the bag pipes.

Edmund was predeceased by his wife, Estelle ( Sirois) Skea and his seven siblings. His family members include his daughter, Carol Wood of Methuen and his 2 sons, Edmund G. Skea and his wife Suzanne of Montpelier, VT and James Skea of Methuen. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, Kurt Wood, Colleen Vivier, Gretchen Skea, Andrew Skea and Brenda Wood as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday February 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. Funeral services will be at noon on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery Andover.
