Dorothy V. (Jones) Richardson, 98 of Dracut died Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Cedar View Nursing Center, Methuen after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Richardson was born on November 7, 1918 (false Armistice Day), the only child of George and Mary (Boulet) Jones. She graduated from Dracut high School in 1937 and married Oliver M. Richardson in 1940. Together they operated the family farm until his death in 1995. She was a parishioner of Christ Church United in Dracut,
Dorothy was a Past Master and Past Lecturer of Dracut Grange and seventh degree member of the Grange for over 70 years. She was also a member of the Middlesex County Farm Bureau.
Dorothy’s family members include her son, George and his wife, Ellen of Dracut and her daughter, Shirley and her husband, William MacKenzie of Methuen. She leaves her grandsons, Scott Richardson and his wife, Sheryl of Nashua, NH, Robert Richardson and his wife, Nancy of Dracut and Edward MacKenzie and his wife, Katie of Londonderry, NH. She also leaves her granddaughter, Karen (MacKenzie) and her husband, Joseph Sleeman, II of Norwood, MA and ten great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday February 20, 2017 from 2 pm to 6 pm at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Methuen. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday February 21 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
