Donald William "Otter" Chase, 72, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015.
He was born in Methuen on April 7, 1943 to the late Donald W. Chase and Emma (Wilkinson) Chase Mack.
Don graduated from Tenney High School in 1961, Lowell State College in 1966, and received his Masters degree at Salem State College.
Until his retirement, he taught English at Tyngsborough High School and served as a department head. He also taught night classes for several years at Franklin Pierce College.
Don was a 32nd degree mason at the John Hancock Lodge in Methuen and had enjoyed bowling with the John Hancock bowling league. He enjoyed his hobbies and was an avid reader, especially reading about history.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Wunderlich) Chase, with whom he just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary, son Erik J. Chase of Methuen, brother Robert Chase and his wife Rhonda of Methuen, and several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, April 26, from 2:00 - 6:00pm at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27, at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
