I was blessed to have known Barbara as a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry here at First Church. She was always so helpful when I had a question about crocheting. Many of the women in the group only knit but Barbara could do both. She was my technical support for crochet and for that and her kindness, I will miss her.
Her absence is deeply felt by the group. She was an expert knitter to be sure. A talent that she took great pride in. We will miss her.

Everyone speaks very highly of Barbara in the Prayer Shawl knitting group, I myself did not know her, but I know I would have liked her. Please know that I am thinking of her and her family.

Barbara was a very familiar and loyal presence in the life of First Church in Methuen. She was sitting in her usual pew every Sunday until very recently and will be sorely missed by, not only those who sat with her, but all of us who enjoyed seeing her each week. She was a faithful member of our Prayer Shawl ministry from the very beginning 12 years ago and not only did she knit and crochet many very beautiful shawls and baby afghans, she was a mentor to many of us when we needed help with a pattern or a tangled skein of yarn. She was an inspiration to all of us for her zest for life, her endless acts of kindness and her love of her church. We will hold her in our hearts forever.

To the Family of Barbara,
When I think of Barbara I think of the Wednesday afternoons at First Church where Barbara was one of the members of the Prayer Shawl ministry. She would sit quietly knitting away on something very beautiful, always. She was very talented in her knitting and could crochet beautiful things as well She was always so pleasant and sweet and we will miss her at our meetings. Prayers for her loved ones,
Janet Towler

Always warm and caring, emotionally supportive to us all, and always the quiet voice of reason. I will never forget our last few minutes together at the hospital. You had to at least suspect that things were drawing to a close, but you asked me how I was doing, and you really wanted to know.

I close with Warren Zevon's closing words to his family, friends and fans, and yes, Barbara, we will keep you in our hearts for a (long) while:

Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile

If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for awhile

There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for awhile...

You've left a big hole in my life, Girl, and this world seems empty without you.
