Agnes Rose Cate, 64, of Andover, MA passed away on October 25, 2017. She was born with her twin brother Daniel on October 27, 1952 to Helen (Ardito) Cate and David E. Cate Sr. Aggie, who has lovingly been known as Ag, was educated in the Lawrence, school system and graduated with a BA in Social Services from Lowell State College, now U Mass Lowell. Her early career was in social services and she managed Group Homes in the Merrimack Valley for many years. She was well versed in assessing and assisting people with problems. She followed her mother’s example and worked her later years at the Andover Center of the IRS where she made many lasting friends. Ill health led to an early retirement in which she spent wonderful times with family and friends. She lovingly enjoyed special times at her favorite destination, Aruba, enjoying the Island Life while making and maintaining long lasting friendships. Her eight year courageous battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew her. Aggie was an independent, free thinking person who marched to the beat of her own drummer and was beloved as a daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend. She never forgot those around her and was honest, loving, and compassionate. She touched lives.

Her family members include her brothers and their wives, Dennis and Ginny Cate of Fairfax, VA, David and Phyllis Cate of Pelham, NH and Larry and Pam Cate of Henderson, NV. She also leaves her Maternal Aunts, Genevieve Gangi and Marie Ardito and her Paternal Aunt, Winnie and Uncle Alfred Cate as well as numerous cousins and friends who showered Aggie with love and care over the years and were there with her in her final days. She is also a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Aggie’s wishes, there are no calling hours and a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are by The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. To leave an online condolence, please go to www.dewhirstfuneral.com.
